| The blue marks on the floor. You have a feel for detail. The amp on the top left is to big for its table What do these amps weigh?... |

| Between 28 and 30 kgs. The CD-427 weighs 18 alone . I swap out lots of speakers for testing (the ones pictured are the winners by musicians), so the blue marks help me get back to where I was.
I've been educating quite a few about listening positions lately. _________________ Life is not a dress rehearsal. |

| | Hey guys, Well, I've been struggling with pnuemonia. So I've been down for a while. Haven't done any music in a long time. Right before I got sick, my reality box died. Thanks for think of me though. Open source sounds exciting but what does this mean? |

Sorry to hear mate, I hope thing go better for you.
Things have been slow here and I sort of resigned. I still want to do a little more.
Open source allows other people to open the seer files that go to compile SurReal in a few program editors so that a community can add changes in all aspects of the programs look and functioning. The community can fix bugs remove unwanted features and expand and add new features to a program.
The SurReal source files are put on a server for anyone to download for free and edit. Community programmers then join a forum and talk about and share the code and ideas with each other and improve the product.
Its not an easy thing to do IMO as Seer is a little loving on their designs. Much software was designed on open source at the start and the technology gets bought later down the track but its a hard road taking everyone's work and boxing it too, so usually when things go open source they stay that way.
My guess would be a limited condition open source, with an agreement that, Seer may at anytime withdraw the licence for open communities to edit or change its products code, and the code be solely distributed by commercial licensees web facilities. Final releases under the agreement are to be passed by a community board, eg. programmers or commercial licensees.
A grantee on Seers behalf its will commit to the community is some effects would be rosey, but these guys are getting on with life too.
A bit like the phpbb scene but with a little more strategy into the level of usage of materials.
Best outcome would be
Seer finds a few good up and coming programmers
Gets a lot of free work done and much need boast in development
Community befits from the open source releases
SurReal overhaul an gets ported to xp asio support and plugins.
Worst outcome:
Community explodes into a nuclear war zone and sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
It would be the way you do things that would either make it float or sink. Just be nice |
